Birds seen today: Atlantic puffin, great black-backed gull, great cormorant, herring gull, northern fulmar, eider duck, brent geese, black guillemot, common guillemot, razorbill.

09:00 - The conditions at sea were good this morning with not much wind and clear skies. We headed first to the zones were we last saw cetaceans on Thursday, and after not much waiting we spotted our first minke whale. It was a very fast one and the passengers helped a lot in keeping up with it, following its characteristic dorsal fin through the water. Eventually we lost sight of it, but as we were making way to another area, we came accross a second individual. This one was a bit more shy and left us quickly, but immediately after we saw the blow and the fluke of a humpback whale! We headed towards it slowly and with care but it did not stay much at the surface, so we moved on to a second one that other passengers had spotted and this one was a lot more active at the surface so everybody was delighted! Also between dives a small group of white beaked doklphins swam around and under the boat so it was a great morning.

12:00 - At 12 the wind dropped a fair bit but we still had a slight splash zone on the way out. After some searching we spotted a blow and then another one in the distance! We made out way over but this was a very elusive and traveling humpback whale. We continued scanning but it was teasing us with blows always in the distance! As we were two boats - one boat was lucky enough to spot a quick minke whale and a quick glimpse of white beaked dolphins! As all encounters were very short-lived we handed out complimentary tickets so that everyone has the chance to come again for free!

15:00 - On the last tour of the day, the conditions were perfect - little wind and smooth seas.We sailed out on our sea safari but other than lots of birdlife including puffins(!) we sadly did not see any whales or dolphins! We love seeing the animals in their natural environment but that also means there are no guarantees. As we know its a thing of luck we wanted to give everyine another chance to come back for free and handed out complimentary tickets. We still enjoyed the sun on our faces and gorgeous views of the mountains and Reykjavik.
