What did we see today: puffins... extra close!

Whale watching tours cancelled due to bad weather

With intense winds, rain, and white capped waves everywhere, we had to cancel most of our tours for the day... except our courageous group of 9am puffin explorers! We set out with our team of 7 passengers, from Australia and New York, prepared to get wet in the name of puffins! And yes, we did get wet. Soaking in fact. But in the opinion of our naturalist, Jess, this was actually our best puffin tour so far! With the very high tide we were able to get extra close to the islands in the bay and have an amazing view of the puffins on the land, interacting with each other and pottering around by their burrows. No binoculars necessary. Normally this area close to the islands is far too shallow and rocky to get so close to, so we were thrilled to be able to give our passengers an extra special look at the birds today. So yes... it was wet, but it was WORTH IT!
