What did we see today: puffins

With all of our whale watching tours cancelled due to bad weather and impressive waves, we went ahead on another puffin express tour. We approached Akurey and Engey to get up close (but not TOO close) to the puffins’ breeding areas. We even got to see some puffins emerging from their burrows, perhaps taking a break from building and preparing them for the upcoming season. We also got a closer look at Fulmars gliding over the boat, Arctic terns, Eider ducks, and lots and lots of gulls. We had 2 lovely groups for our puffins tours today, and it was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for seabirds and ecology. Our Australian passenger in the morning even said “I´ve waited my whole life to see puffins”. We were so happy to experience this with you!
