What did we see today: minke whales, white beaked dolphins, harbour porpoises, puffins

The sea was flat, the sky was clear, and there were minkes…. EVERYWHERE. At our first minke sighting, everyone was excited to watch her so clearly emerging at the glassy surface. Before long we spotted another minke whale in the other direction… and then another further off… and then another…. And then another… until it seemed that no matter where we looked there was a minke whale in our view range. There certainly must have been abundant fish in the area today!

To top off our day, we encountered a pod of curious white beaked dolphins. They were swimming towards the boat and spinning around underneath us as we admired them from the surface. Their white markings make them clear to spot through the clear Atlantic water. It was a magical day!
